Gun Permit Application Process

 ***Local fees are payable by check, money order, or cash to the Westfield Police Department at 17535 Dartown Rd, Westfield, IN 46074.***

  • Go to Indiana State website to start your application: in.gov/isp/2829.htm.
  • Read and follow the instructions online to begin your application.
  • Schedule your inkless/electronic fingerprint process with IdentoGO at https://in.ibtfingerprint.com/
    • There is an additional fee of $11.95 for this service.
  • Your state fee and fingerprint fee will be payable online via credit or debit card (please note this is the only way to pay your state fee).
  • After your fingerprint appointment, you will need to come to the Westfield Police Department during normal business hours (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday) to complete the application process and pay your local fee.
    • You must be a resident of Westfield and bring your current valid driver’s license or government-issued ID with you to prove residency.
      • Your address must be current on your ID and match what is on your gun permit application or it will be rejected by the State.
    • The local fee is payable to the Westfield Police Department by check, money order or cash (exact amount, please).

For NEW applications, if there are no mistakes on your application and you have no criminal history, your license should be issued within 60 days from the time your local authority submitted your application to ISP.   You can check the status of your application online at http://firearms.ariesportal.com.  Go to http://www.in.gov/isp/2833.htm for more ISP firearms licensing contact information.

DUPLICATE FIREARMS LICENSE

To obtain a duplicate, hard plastic copy of your license or change or name or address:

  • Go to http://firearms.ariesportal.com.
  • Click “Sign In” at the “Duplicate/Status Updates” section of the home page.
    • Log in or create an account.
  • Once you are logged in, you will be on your status screen. Here, you can either request a duplicate copy of your license or update the name or address information of your current license.
    • Click the “Request” button to begin the process of a duplicate copy or to request a name or address change. You will answer a few questions and then be asked to pay a $20 fee for the duplicate license. There is no fee for a name or address change.

        All NEW license applications incur a $11.95 fee for IDEMIA Electronic Fingerprinting. Additionally, ALL license applications incur an IN.gov processing fee that varies according to the license type.

        † Fee exemption applies only to the initial license application. All duplicate licenses incur a fee of $20.00.
