Westfield Parks and Recreation Director, Curt Cooley, announced that Westfield's new Splash Park and Skateboard Park are close to completion.  Although the grand opening for both parks will not occur until spring, 2007, the parks construction has been moving forward and ahead of schedule.

The Splash Park at the Town's Quaker Park is located at SR 32 and Dartown Road, behind the Westfield Public Safety Building.  The splash pad has been installed, the restroom facilities are approximately 90% completed (see attached photo).

The Skateboard Park at Westfield's Asa Bales Park, is located on Hoover Street, directly across from Westfield High School.  The Skateboard pad and equipment has been installed and the shelter and restroom facilities are approximately 60% completed (see attached picture).

The Design for the Skate Park was produced with the help of local Westfield School students who volunteered to attend several meetings at the Town Hall to give input on an extensive number of design features.  "We decided to invite the local students to our planning sessions to ensure we were designing a product that would be utilized by the local community," says Jerry Rosenberger, Westfield Town Manager.

"We are excited that these park projects are coming to Westfield," says Cooley.  "We want residents to have the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful park features and for the local children to have a safe and exciting place to play," says Cooley.
