Westfield's Assistant Fire Chief, Bob Smith, announced the hiring of David A. Rapp, Training and Safety Chief, who will be responsible for all training and educational activities and incident safety for the Westfield Fire Department (WFD). Initially, David will be focusing on the development and implementation of a safety training program designed to improve the efficiency of the Westfield Fire Department.

"David is a tremendous asset to the Westfield Fire Department," says Bob Smith, Westfield's Assistant Fire Chief. "He has over 20 years experience in the Fire Fighting Industry and this will ultimately help improve the safety mechanisms within the department," says Smith. Before Rapp, the three Battalion Chiefs were responsible for the training of all firefighters and medics. "With the new Training and Safety Chief Position, the instruction and training procedures will be much more intensive and more importantly, more consistent," says Smith.

This is the first Training and Safety Chief for the Westfield Fire Department. "There are currently 45 firefighters and medics on staff at the WFD and with the tremendous growth in population, it is appropriate that we enhance our focus on training and safety, says Jerry Rosenberger," Westfield Town Manager. "Dave's experience is such an advantage for us and we are excited to have him on board," says Rosenberger.

Dave began his firefighting career in 1979 at the Pike Fire Department and has also served as a Firefighter, Building Inspector and Public Safety Director for the City of Lawrence, Indiana. He has also served as the Administration Training and Safety Officer for the City of Noblesville.
