On behalf of all the town staff and the Town Council, I want to wish all of you a happy new year.  2006 was a busy year for the Town of Westfield, and 2007 is sure to be even busier. 

In 2007, the Town of Westfield will hold an election for a Mayor and city council.  The primary elections will be in May and the general election will be in November.  In January 2008, Westfield will officially become the City of Westfield and the Mayor and the City Council will take office. 

Also in 2007, the Comprehensive Plan is expected to be approved by the Town Council.  The plan was completed in late November and town staff hopes that the new plan will be in effect early this year.  Check the town website for the status of the comprehensive plan. 

In spring 2007, the new Skateboard Park and Splash Park will open in Westfield.  Construction is almost complete on both parks and the grand opening will be held in early spring.  The Skateboard Park is located at Asa Bales Park (Hoover and Union) and the Splash Park will be located at Quaker Park (behind the Public Safety Building and Post Office). 

Also in 2007, expect to see some updates to the Town Hall expansion project, an expansion at the Public Works Department, more road resurfacing and road improvement projects, construction on the new Eagle Station and Drees Development projects, a new youth sports program, and more improvements to the local parks and trails.
