Westfield Town Council announced that Bruce A. Hauk, Westfield Public Works Director, has been appointed the Acting Town Manager for the Town of Westfield. Hauk is stepping in after Jerry Rosenberger tendered his resignation in March.
Hauk has been the Director of Public Works for approximately five years. Prior to coming to Westfield, Hauk served as the Operations Superintendent for Indiana American Water Company. He has over ten years of experience in management and has a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University, an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University, a Public Management Graduate Certificate from IUPUI and five professional certifications.
When Hauk began with the Town in July 2002, the Westfield Public Works Department was made up of fourteen staff members, was without any type of formal organizational structure, and facing the challenges of growth and development. His goal as Public Works Director was to create an organization committed to increasing efficiency and productivity through technology, the promotion of quality utility services for customers including sewer and water services, wastewater management and thoroughfare maintenance. Along with those commitments, Hauk wanted to build an employee base dedicated to team member excellence, and exemplifying only the highest standards of reliability and dependability, while always acting in a responsible manner. According to the Westfield Town Council, Hauk has undoubtedly achieved those goals.
Currently, under Hauk's direction, the Public Works Department has a staff of nearly 60 and has nine different divisions. "Bruce has built a tremendous public works organization from the ground up," says Town Council President Andy Cook. "We will use his leadership skills and abilities to help move Westfield forward in a professional and efficient manner and the residents of Westfield should be extremely confident that the Town of Westfield is in excellent hands," says Cook.
Hauk still plans to be extremely involved at Public Works, but Assistant Director, Kurt Wanninger, will be handling the day-to-day operations in his absence. "I have an excellent staff at Public Works and I am confident that under Kurt's direction, the operations will run smoothly," says Hauk.
