In honor of Arbor Day, there will be a tree planting celebration at Quaker Park at 11am. The Parks Departments will be planting eight Sunset Maples with the help of the local Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Key Club and the Environmental Club from Westfield High School.
Additionally, there will be a tree give-a-way in the parking lot of Town Hall from 11am -1pm. The Town has 900 trees to distribute. The trees which will be given away are as follows:
- Bald Cypress
- Black Cherry
- Black Gum
- Black Oak
- Bur Oak
- Flowering Dogwood
- Kentucky Coffee Tree
- Red Oak
- Shumard Oak
- Tulip Tree
- White Pine
- White Oak
Each individual will be able to receive up to three trees. "We are excited to be hosting this event to commemorate Arbor Day," says Parks and Recreation Director, Curt Cooley. "We would like to encourage all residents to stop by and join in the day's festivities," says Cooley.
