Mrs. Nikki Webb of the Westfield Police Department (WPD) is the recent recipient of Northwestern University's prestigious "Award of Achievement" for the successful completionNikki Webb of 200 hours of specialized training in Criminal Forensic Investigative Techniques. The training, conducted at Northwestern University (NWU) in Chicago involved classroom and hands-on training in the areas of evidence collection, photography and bloodstain reconstruction at crime scenes.

 

In addition to the specialized training at NWU, Nikki has completed over 200 hours of training in other related forensic subjects and is currently one of a handful of individuals in the State of Indiana to be certified as a Property and Evidence Specialist.

 

Nikki has been with the WPD since August of 2003, and based on her work performance, was eventually appointed as the department's first civilian Evidence Technician in September of 2004. She also performs the duties as the department's Property Room Manager. In that capacity, she is responsible for the security and proper storage of all property and evidence collected by WPD Officers.

 

"Nikki was chosen and appointed to her duties based on her past work ethic, knowledge of different areas of public safety and her attention to detail, says Mike Allen, Assistant Police Chief.  "Her training, practical experience and commitment to her duties has greatly enhanced the department's ability to serve the community, says Allen. 
 
Nikki is the second Westfield Employee to win this award.  Mike Fisher, the Director of Information Technology won the award in 1999.
