The history of the Westfield Fire Department spans over 100 years.  What began as a small, loosely organized group of citizens rendering aide to the community, has now evolved into a highly structured professional group of women and men dedicated to protecting our community.    As a part of our history, we now can record the monumental benchmark of becoming a city fire department.  With this change brings several new challenges and expectations; rest assured the dedicated women and men of Westfield Fire Department stand poised to accomplish each and every one.   Today, the American fire service is challenged to become an "All Hazards Response Agency."  What this means is the modern-day fire department must be prepared to respond and mitigate all types of natural and human-made emergencies. This is the nucleus of our mission.  The professional women and men of WFD are in constant pursuit of the most up-to-date training and resources, empowering us to be an All Hazards Response Agency.   Providing the highest quality of service to the citizens and visitors of the City of Westfield is the motivation to our mission.

Our Mission We are an organization of dedicated professionals.  Our duty is to provide Fire, Rescue and Medical services.  Our goal is to protect and preserve life and property. We have a commitment to the public and ourselves through education and training, to safely provide an environment that is sensitive and responsive to the needs of the community. As a family of one we care about the welfare of our neighbors and respect the needs of our community.
