Criminal Investigations

The Westfield Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for completing investigations of major crimes resulting from case reports initiated by the first responding officer. All sworn CID personnel start their law enforcement careers as uniformed patrol officers and are assigned to CID based upon their knowledge, experience, and investigative ability. The CID staff has decades of law enforcement experience and is led by Captain James Lilly. Under his supervision are Detective Gregory Marlow, Detective Brett Bays, Detective Tony Howard, Detective Rob Dine, Criminalist Charles Blackford, and Criminalist Alyssa Kautzman.

Last week, Officer Velazquez helped out at the Noblesville Police Department Police Explorer Program by teaching the K9 class along with his K9 Billie. The K-9 class was part of the curriculum along with other classes such as firearms training, defensive tactics, accident investigation, arrest procedures, vehicle searches, scene investigations and other Law Enforcement related training.

This year the Police Explorer Program had over 50 explorers between the ages of 14 to 19 years coming from different places in Indiana and Michigan. The purpose of the program is to provide experiences to help youth mature and prepare them to become responsible, caring adults. It provides instruction on five areas of emphasis that include career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education, and leadership experience. Westfield Police Department - Indiana

Last week, the Westfield Police Department was lucky to host Cops Cycling for Survivors as they stopped through Westfield on their annual bicycle tour around the state.
