We have received some complaints about folks using golf carts on city trails. Here are a few important reminders:

Permitted golf carts have been allowed on roads 25mph and lower since 2010.
The city is now testing- meaning the program can be pulled- golf cart usage on some trails (see map). The program is designed to encourage green transportation, allow people of all ages access to downtown and aid with parking.
Golf carts must... 1. Be registered and inspected by the Westfield Police Department - Indiana, 2. Be driven by a licensed driver and insured, 3. Have headlights, taillights, turn signals and a rearview mirror and 4. Yield to pedestrians and bicyclists.

Please remember golf carts are a great means of transportation for our residents when utilized properly! Infractions can be reported to dispatch at 317.773.1300.

Now if we could just get the "people" on the trails to use the stop signs.

Need to insure your golf cart? Contact me!

Can kids be driving the golf carts?

Golf cart drivers need to be 16 and over too, right???

Lots of KIDS driving along perimeter of Bridgewater (151st and Carey) and lately on the streets in Setters Run. There was a group driving unsafely near the Setters Run playground the other night. If they aren’t licensed, they can’t be driving them.

Can only be driven by a licensed driver on streets with speed limit is less than 25 mile an hour.

I’ve seen golf carts parked at the new Smoothie King on 32 and Grassy Branch, how did they get there you ask? On roads that are well over 25 miles an hour. Where are our police? This is going to turn into catastrophe at some point!

Would love a golf cart path from the High School to Cary and 32! Main roads near me are 35 mph and 45 mph but would love to take a golf cart to Kroger and the stores there

I guess the parents get fined if their underage kids are caught driving. I've not seen many police on the Midland Trace trail shown on the map. I suppose they would stop a kid who would then be followed home and the parents ticketed.

Westfield City Government, thank you for your post. I understand green transportation and help with parking issues. Can you share more about what you mean by “allow people of all ages access to downtown”?

I've been seeing them at night on Springmill, 156th, and 161st streets. Accident waiting to happen because they are kind of hard to see.

What about the people with toddlers unrestrained riding in them down the roads ? So scarey ! See it almost every day.

👌

Oh I hope all of downtown will be golf cart friendly. So many communities are and people love it.

I’ve seen several kids rockin the midland trail between Carey and gray. From what I see this is not allowed. This is a horrible idea and should be revoked! The trails should be for exercise not driving!

Why are police not cracking down on unlicensed drivers driving golf carts? I never see a cop when these kids are driving

Green transportation? You mean bikes or walking? 🤔

Kids are driving golf carts on the streets in Centennial. I called the Westfield police and I was told there is really nothing they can do.

Police will do zero enforcement, don’t waste your time. The city purposely allows golf carts on trails so kids can drive on them without repercussions. Funny how the golf cart trail starts in Bridgewater... grandpa, I want to drive to smoothie king... make it so.

How are Golf carts green? They take gas and emit carbon monoxide. Hate to break it to you but not green.

Kids are driving them around here... Brookside and Crestview area. They crossed far to close in front if me on 169th street. A cart full of kids.

I’ve seen young kids driving them probably not even old enough to have a license. So dangerous and an accident waiting to happen

What about driving them while drinking? Is this legal? Are they required to provide proof of insurance ? Is that included in the registering with the city?

32 is already bad enough. I don’t want to see anything else on it that will slow that road down anymore. I avoid it during certain times of the day due to the wait that I face on it.

If you’d loved this photo & want to be a part of this, I’d love to meet with you to chat about mentoring! It’s really as awesome as this picture ❤️ mcontreras@westfield.in.gov

Save a trip to Westfield Police Department - Indiana... print this and post near your front door! More to come on the Solicitation Ordinance and the long-term solution (no decal needed). We appreciate your patience. ... See moreSee less

Thank you so much. This is perfect. Now I don't have to go out in the heat.

Thank you! This soliciting law change is absolutely ridiculous.

Feeling classy..just taped a post- it note outside 🙄

Does anyone know the next steps to take if you have the decal & still receive solicitors?

This is now on my front door.

Not the raccoon. LOL

Good. Because if one more of these kids from “Aptive” come segwaying into my garage...he’s gonna leave on foot👊🏼😂The kid today would not take “no” as an answer.

Thank you!!!

Are decals available?

Debbie Michaels

Emily Coury Alexander I printed one for ya

I wish Carmel would do this!

Ryan McClain

Casey Fisher

Dang- what am I going to do with all these vacuum cleaners?

I bought one today at Walmart for 97 cents!!

I have one on my front door

Ryan Wild print!

Thank you! I printed it out & its on my door.

Would there be any irony in my selling "No Soliciting" magnetic door signs if I were to go door-to-door selling them?

Good idea😊

Just had to tell off a solicitor who rang our doorbell in spite of our No Soliciting sign. I’m sick of this.

Yes these look WAY better on a couple hundred houses in the neighborhood rather than having one big sign at every entrancedid
