FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Westfield, IN - Today the City of Westfield announced the new splash pad at Quaker Park will open tomorrow, May 29, at 9am. Due to inclement weather, the opening (originally scheduled for today) was pushed to Saturday.

“We know the splash pad has been a huge hit with Westfield families,” said Mayor Andy Cook. “More than ever, it will be wonderful to see kids enjoying this park throughout the summer. Amenities that bring the community together are among the reasons we are one of the most desirable communities in the nation.”

The new splash pad includes 20 water features, almost double the number of the previous splash pad, which had 11. With new technology, the facility will use less water running at 104 gallons per minute versus the previous 15-year-old system that used 316 gallons per minute. Additionally, the facility has a new surface which is safer than the concrete surface of the previous structure. The splash pad will be operational from 9am-9pm 7 days a week from tomorrow until the “weather turns,” late September or early October.

“This splash pad was custom designed for Westfield,” commented Westfield Parks Superintendent Chris McConnell. “This is part of a rebirth of Quaker Park with the addition of several new amenities for all ages.”

Along with the splash pad, Quaker Park also improved its playground, installed the second-in-the-Midwest interactive Sona Arch and has installed three new pickleball courts and shelter.
