FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Westfield, IN - At the October 25 City Council meeting, Taft Law, BKD and Baker Tilley presented the results of the forensic audit and policies and procedures examination. This exhaustive examination was a deep dive into all aspects of Westfield city government including all departments, Grand Park and the Clerk Treasurer’s office. This examination goes much deeper than the limited “audit” conducted by the Indiana State Board of Accounts.

Now, we must focus on the future. As one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, we have many things to learn and improve upon. We, elected or employed, are happy to say that no fraud or illegalities were found. There are opportunities for improvement. The Baker Tilley report contains a roadmap of corrective actions and policies.

Together, the administration will work with the council to study and work to implement as many of these recommendations as it is within our power to do. I hope the Clerk Treasurer’s office will join us in this exercise. In fact, I have already reached out to the Oversight Committee to begin that process, and I look forward to sharing our progress with the public.

-Mayor Andy Cook
