Professional Profile

On November 5, 2019, Mayor Andy Cook was re-elected to his fourth term as Westfield’s mayor. Previously serving as Town Council president, he worked to transition Westfield into a city and became its first mayor on January 1, 2008.

Under his leadership, Westfield has experienced tremendous growth and is currently recognized as the fastest growing community in the state. In recent years, Westfield has attracted over $1.5 billion in economic development, including capital investments by Abbott Labs, Aptiv, Bastian Solutions, Gordon Food Service and more.

Mayor Cook spearheaded the development of Grand Park Sports Campus, which attracts 2.5 million visits each year and has served as a catalyst for the city’s hospitality and tourism industry. Mayor Cook also encouraged the city’s investment in Grand Junction, a public park and gathering space in downtown Westfield anticipated to open in 2021.

Mayor Cook is dedicated to managing with financial integrity and is continuously working to maintain Westfield's character and charm while striving to increase its economic vitality. Mayor Cook also values the health and welfare of the community. He founded the Westfield Youth Assistance Program to offer support resources for at-risk youth and started the Wellbeing Coalition of Westfield to address the social, emotional, spiritual, physical and mental wellbeing of all residents.

After graduating from Northwestern High School near Kokomo, Mayor Cook earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Environmental Health from Indiana University, Bloomington. After careers with the State Department of Health and the private sector, he joined his son in 1997 to develop Tradewinds, a transportation and logistics corporation headquartered in Westfield.

Mayor Cook and his wife of over 40 years, Barbara, a retired physician assistant, live in Westfield and are the parents of two sons and a daughter, and have nine grandchildren.
